In recent years, Berry Global (hereinafter referred to as Berry) has implemented a series of strategic layouts in the fields of medical and sanitary materials. For example, it has introduced the world's most advanced Raffin 5 (RF5) high-performance spunbond production line in its South China Sea factory, and successfully realized commercial production. In 2020, it announced the official launch of the expansion and upgrading project of medical non-woven fabrics. At this year's Nanjing Life Paper Exhibition, the high fluffy two-component non-woven fabric they exhibited was from the RF5 production line.
Domain brands are growing rapidly; the size of the pants market will continue to grow, but the industry's capacity increase is much higher than the market growth, competition will become more intense.

Facing the future, grasping the key factors
As mentioned earlier, the key factors affecting the size of the sanitary products segment are the number of consumers, market penetration, consumption habits, spending power and willingness. Based on the current macro situation, Mr. Zhang Guohua said in an interview: "We believe that the main drivers of baby diapers and adult diapers are the further increase in penetration and changes in consumer habits. The penetration rate of sanitary napkin users is close to saturation, and more growth drivers come from breakthrough product design. For example, the tampon market breakthrough is imminent, which will bring potential growth space for the sanitary napkin category."
As one of Berry's important market segments, the demand for wipes has grown rapidly driven by the outbreak. Berry has recently invested in production capacity in North America and Europe, including biodegradable and recyclable substrates. The demand for wipes in the industrial and civil sectors of developed countries is high, including personal care, baby wipes, kitchen, industrial dry wipes and wet wipes, forming a very stable market. Berry's civil and industrial wiping materials are in short supply in Europe and the United States. The patented technology of spunbond spunlace and fancy spunlace developed by Berry can produce customized patterns according to customer needs.
At present, Berry's wiping materials are rarely used in the Chinese market, mainly for industrial wipes in automobiles, high-speed rail and other industries. At present, they have also begun to enter supermarkets. "Our wiping products in China are imported from overseas. Quality indicators such as the amount of dust removed once wiped and the amount of dust retained after wiping are significantly better than competitors." Mr. Cui Yanzhao said, "Based on the improvement of China's consumer living standards and the impact of the epidemic, the market penetration rate of different categories of health and medical supplies, including wipes, will be greatly improved in China in the future, and gradually move closer to developed countries."

As for the hot topic of sustainable development in the industry, Berry's R & D team is also cooperating with customers to carry out targeted R & D work. However, considering the many components of sanitary products, non-woven fabrics are only one of many materials. The sustainable development of disposable sanitary products has a long way to go, and many companies in the industrial chain need to work together.
Asia is a very important market for Berry Group. They have been thinking about how to strengthen their influence in Asia, such as expanding market share through investment. Throughout the development of Berry Group, M & A is clearly one of its important strategies.
Speaking of mergers and acquisitions, Mr. Cui Yanzhao said: "Berry is very willing and good at mergers and acquisitions. After the acquired companies are integrated into our system, they can get better development." Several successful acquisitions over the years have demonstrated Berry's ability to integrate market resources, management systems, and product lines.
At the same time, Berry has shown sufficient respect for the culture and business model of the acquired company. "Under this premise, combining Berry's management experience and business, organically integrate the two and promote each other. The key to the success of the acquisition project." Mr. Zhang Guohua added.
