National first! Reusable medical protective clothing approved for listing in Beijing

On April 22, the country's first approved reusable medical protective clothing was unveiled in Beijing, solving the problems of large consumption of disposable medical protective clothing, long production cycle, and inconvenient storage.

During the prevention and control of the new coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, the demand for medical prevention and control materials such as protective clothing has soared, and the scientific research project of "reusable medical protective clothing" in Beijing has been established to meet the clinical demand for reusable medical protective clothing and reduce the cost of medical waste disposal.

Under the leadership and deployment of the Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Government and the State Food and Drug Administration, the Beijing Municipal Food and Drug Administration, the Science and Technology Commission and other departments set up a "Reusable Medical Protective Clothing Scientific Research" project team to urgently launch an emergency scientific and technological project for epidemic prevention and control. In 68 days, focusing on the major needs of the fight against the new coronary pneumonia epidemic, the city's universities, scientific research institutes, medical institutions and technology enterprises have been widely mobilized to work closely to speed up. Organized many expert demonstrations, compiled the 8th version of the clinical trial plan, and completed nearly 60 various data verifications. On April 17, the reusable medical protective clothing produced by Beijing Bangwei Company was awarded the second class issued by the Beijing Municipal Food and Drug Administration. The medical device registration certificate became the first similar product approved for listing in the country.

The test results show that the approved reusable medical protective clothing's breaking strength, filtration efficiency, anti-synthetic blood penetration, anti-water permeability and other key performance test results are higher than the national standard of medical disposable protective clothing. The two are different in material composition, production process, clothing structure and so on, which can meet the requirements of repeated use. The product can be used by clinical medical staff to block and protect potentially infectious patients' blood, body fluids, secretions, and particulate matter in the air during reception, transportation, screening, and isolation.
