The neo-coronary pneumonia epidemic is the most serious infectious disease pandemic in the world in a century, how to actively respond to the epidemic and protect people's lives and health? What challenges and opportunities do textile biomedical materials face in the post-epidemic era ...... These issues have led scientists to think deeply about medical and health protection. The 2021 International Textile Biomedical Materials Conference, sponsored by Donghua University and co-sponsored by North Carolina State University in the United States and Laval University in Canada, was held a few days ago. Experts and scholars from more than 150 universities, hospitals, biomedical companies and research institutions from 16 countries gathered at Donghua University and Yunyun to express their views on the new challenges and opportunities faced by textile biomedical materials in the post-epidemic era.

This conference focuses on the frontier scientific research hotspots of textile biomedical materials, based on the key common technological innovation of the industry, with deepening basic research as the core, and promoting industrial integration as the goal, invited famous experts and academic leaders in textile, biology, materials, medicine and other related fields to give theme reports, around "biomedical new materials and bio-based polymers", "surface modification and biocompatibility of materials", "protection, comfort and health care functions of medical textiles", "tissue engineering scaffolds", "design, structure and performance of textile bio-implants", "product quality assurance and supervision", "textiles for drug delivery", "development progress of in vitro and in vivo testing methods", "performance evaluation using computer models" and "new antibacterial drugs" infection control "ten topics, based on advanced textile materials, we jointly explore its expansion and application in biology, medicine and related fields, which broadens the way of thinking for promoting the penetration of high-end industrial textiles into the fields of high-grade medical and health protection, surgery and nursing, and further promotes international academic exchanges and scientific research cooperation. The conference also established a youth committee and invited more than 20 outstanding young researchers and doctoral students who have published outstanding research results in related fields to give oral reports, aiming to accumulate basic research talents for the research of textile biomedical materials and cultivate textile professionalism and Compound talent team.

"Textile is the traditional dominant discipline of Donghua, and we have to let it play a greater role today." as the main person in charge of the textile biology discipline of Donghua University, Professor Wang Lu of Donghua University, has been committed to the reorganization and adjustment of scientific research direction and the research of high-tech textiles, especially the development of new botanical dyes and functional auxiliaries and the research of medical textiles. Under the leadership of Professor Wang Lu, the team has built the first biomedical textile material preparation and 3Bs testing and evaluation laboratory in China. In recent years, it has established 9 industry-university-research-medical cooperative scientific research and talent practice bases, forming an interdisciplinary The multi-link innovative practice system composed of classroom experiments, training and internships characterized by disciplines has comprehensively cultivated students' innovative ability.

Professor Seeram RAMAKRISHNA, an academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering of the United Kingdom, the Singapore Academy of Engineering, the Indian National Academy of Engineering, and the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology, pointed out in a keynote report on smart biomaterials at the conference that the epidemic has changed people's daily lives and working methods, such as face recognition, The demand for non-contact and human-computer interaction technologies such as brain-computer interfaces is developing in a spurt, the landing of these disruptive technologies is deeply dependent on the development and application of smart biomaterials with sensing, response, and interaction functions. The conference integrated experts in many fields and brainstormed to build an innovative application exchange platform for textile biomedical materials.
