In 2020, driven by the demand for epidemic prevention materials, China's industrial textile industry has experienced a round of rapid growth, accumulating a large base for the development of the industry in 2021; at the same time, with the changes in the global epidemic situation, the demand for epidemic prevention materials has dropped significantly, and the growth rate of masks, protective clothing and related raw and auxiliary materials industry has seen a sharp correction in 2021, leading to a decline in the growth rate of major economic indicators of the whole industry.

At present, with the continuous improvement of vaccination rate and the recovery of global market demand, the field of epidemic prevention materials and non-epidemic prevention materials in the industrial textile industry show two very different development trends. The development of epidemic prevention materials related fields in the industry has gradually returned to the pre-epidemic level, and the profitability of these fields continued the trend of sharp decline from January to May, but the average growth rate of the total profits of non-woven enterprises in the two years still reached 24.6; the recovery trend of non-epidemic prevention materials continued, and most of them have recovered or even better than the pre-epidemic level, however, the rising cost of raw materials, labor, freight and other factors makes the recovery of these areas still face greater pressure. Total profits in the industrial textiles industry are expected to continue to decline in the rest of the year compared to the same period last year, but margins will be better than pre-epidemic levels.
Note: The two-year average growth rate is based on data for the same period in 2019 and calculated using the geometric mean method.
