Recently, the China Federation of textile industry issued a statement on Sino US trade, saying that it is expected that Sino US trade will return to normal track as soon as possible.
The statement reads as follows:
On July 10, the Office of the United States Trade Representative announced a list of tariffs to be imposed on China's 200 billion-dollar products exported to the United States, which involved all types of textile yarns, fabrics, industrial manufactured products, and some home textiles and textile machinery. The total amount of the above-mentioned products exported to the United States exceeded US $4 billion.
The China Textile Industry Federation (hereinafter referred to as the China Textile Federation) is deeply worried about the US accelerating the escalation of trade frictions and firmly opposes the US imposing import tariffs on China's textiles and textile equipment exported to the United States.
Since the implementation of the Memorandum of understanding on Textiles and clothing between China and the United States at the end of 2008, Sino-US textile and clothing trade has returned to liberalization in an all-round way and maintained a stable and healthy development. China's textile industry adheres to the development principle of fair participation in international competition and continuous improvement of the level of opening up to the outside world, actively integrates into the global textile industry division of labor, fully opens up commodity trade and investment access, and establishes a stable, efficient and mutually beneficial industrial chain and supply chain cooperation relationship with the US textile manufacturing industry, trade circulation industry and cotton planting industry. China's textile industry provides American consumers with a large number of high-quality products with high cost performance, and creates many jobs for the American textile industry and related industries. The United States has also provided China with a considerable amount of cotton, cellulose raw materials, chemical fibers, textile fabrics, dyes and other textile industry chain supporting products, as well as a variety of functional household and industrial textiles to meet China's diversified domestic demand market. Over the years, China Textile Federation has actively carried out exchanges and communication with industry organizations such as the National Cotton Federation and the American Nonwovens Association, providing many platforms and opportunities for promoting the establishment and maintenance of friendly and cooperative relations between the two industries.
Building a responsible and sustainable development model is a common principle in the field of international trade and economic cooperation. China's textile industry has always attached importance to the construction of social responsibility, and has taken the lead in promoting the integration of social responsibility value into industrial development. It has made important achievements in improving the employment environment, helping targeted poverty alleviation, establishing a green industrial system, carrying out green trade, conforming to the development trend of globalization, respecting and complying with international economic and trade rules, and has been recognized by the world bank, the United Nations and other international institutions, the Office of the United States Trade Representative once evaluated the "CSC9000T China Textile and Apparel Corporate Social Responsibility System" as the best practice to guide enterprises to follow laws and regulations.
At present, with the escalation of Sino-US trade frictions, the entire textile industry is willing to take national interests as the fundamental position, further deepen the transformation and upgrading, vigorously strengthen the development of responsibility, and resolve the negative impact of unreasonable US tax increases. The textile industry also unanimously expects that Sino-US trade issues can be properly handled and return to normal as soon as possible. At the same time, the close cooperation between the Chinese and American textile industries is hard-won and should be cherished. China Textile Federation solemnly calls on the relevant industries in the United States to uphold the concept of fair competition and win-win cooperation, and resolutely oppose the unfair tax increase measures of the US government. China Textile Federation will closely follow the further actions of the US side, timely inform the whole industry of information and early warning risks, timely investigate and summarize the opinions and demands of the majority of enterprises, give feedback to relevant government departments, and put forward feasible countermeasures. China Textile Federation will actively strengthen communication with relevant industry organizations in the US industry and make due efforts to maintain a stable and healthy foreign trade environment in the textile industry.
