Textile and petrochemical industry docking exchange meeting held

President Li Lingshen introduced the work carried out by the China Textile Industry Federation in ensuring the supply of masks, medical protective clothing, disinfection wipes and main raw materials. At the beginning of the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, the China Textile Federation devoted itself to the resumption of work and production of relevant enterprises, guided clothing and home textile enterprises to switch to medical protective clothing, assisted government departments to solve the problems of breakpoints and blockages in the production of anti-epidemic materials, and ensured the efficient operation of the entire anti-epidemic material supply chain. Regularly provide relevant national ministries and commissions with information on the production capacity, output and standardization of masks, protective clothing and raw materials, and materials, and put forward a number of policy recommendations on the supply and industry order; the release of the group standard "Civil Health Masks" and the national standard "Technical Specifications for Children's Masks" will soon be promulgated, which is of great significance to the daily protection of the people during the epidemic and the resumption of classes by students. These work of China Textile Federation has been highly recognized by national leaders, relevant ministries and enterprises.

The China Industrial Textile Industry Association introduced the current production, export and main raw material guarantee of masks and protective clothing. With the resumption of domestic production and the spread of the epidemic around the world, the production of masks in China has increased significantly. Polypropylene is the upstream raw material for the production of spunbonded nonwovens and meltblown nonwovens needed for masks and medical protective clothing. After the outbreak of the epidemic, the daily demand for polypropylene in the production of masks and protective clothing exceeded 1500 tons, which was basically a net new demand compared with that before the epidemic, making the supply of polypropylene in China tense. The price of polypropylene has been rising all the way, causing great pressure on the production and operation of baby diapers, sanitary napkins, geotextiles and polypropylene enterprises, while the supply of polypropylene for melt-blown nonwovens is even more tense, prices have risen to about 10 times their usual levels. Therefore, the textile industry suggests that the petrochemical industry can increase the output of polypropylene, expand supply, reduce intermediate links, stabilize prices, and ensure the smooth development of the production of anti-epidemic materials and other industries using polypropylene raw materials.

During the docking activities, the two sides also discussed the development of spunbonded nonwovens industry and the development of special polypropylene raw materials for spunbonded. China is a big producer of polypropylene, but the high-quality polypropylene used in the spunbond nonwovens industry still needs to be imported in large quantities. There is still a certain gap between the fiber fineness and softness of the nonwovens produced by domestic resin, which limits the high-end application of the products. Therefore, it is hoped that the petrochemical industry can increase the development of high-performance polypropylene to meet the special requirements of the spunbonded nonwoven industry in terms of performance.

President Fu Xiangsheng introduced the current petrochemical industry to resume production and the main work carried out in the anti-epidemic materials raw materials security, he said that the docking activities with the textile industry fruitful, the Petrochemical Federation will coordinate with member enterprises to solve the current supply of polypropylene. He hopes that in the future, the petrochemical and textile industries will strengthen cooperation, focus on the development and guarantee of small varieties and high-quality raw materials, and jointly promote the healthy development and improvement of the entire industrial chain system.
