According to the latest data, from January to April 2019, China's textile and clothing exports fell in the expected, textile and clothing exports of 75.764 billion billion US dollars, down 3.69 percent year-on-year, after experiencing the ups and downs under the influence of external factors such as customs export and the Spring Festival effect, trade data gradually returned to normal levels. Among them, textile exports were 36.672 billion US dollars, up 0.81 percent year-on-year, and exports of clothing and accessories were 39.092 billion US dollars, down 7.56 percent year-on-year. Continue to show strong textiles and clothing weak significant differentiation trend. In RMB terms, China's textile and clothing exports totaled 515.82 billion billion yuan from January to April 2019, an increase of 1.56 percent over the same period last year, which is closely related to the sharp depreciation of the RMB in the first April of this year compared with the same period last year. The just-concluded 125th Canton Fair sold 29.73 billion US dollars, down 1.16 percent from last year's spring fair. This shows that exports continue to be under pressure against the backdrop of a slowdown in global economy and trade. In particular, the atmosphere in Sino-US trade negotiations has deteriorated sharply recently. The United States threatens to raise tariffs on 200 billion US dollars of Chinese goods to the United States from 10% to 25% on Friday.

From the monthly data, China's textile and clothing exports in April was 19.46 billion billion US dollars, down 9.43 percent from the same period last year, the lowest monthly export in April since 2012. Among them, textile exports were 9.789 billion US dollars, down 6.90 per cent year-on-year, while clothing exports were 9.671 billion US dollars, down 11.85 per cent year-on-year. It is worth noting that for the second consecutive month, there has been an "abnormal" phenomenon that the export volume of clothing is lower than that of textiles.

In addition, China's exports of footwear products totaled US $13.891 billion billion in January-April 2019, down 1.6 percent from the same period last year, of which the number increased by 2.0 percent year-on-year.
