Li Kuiwen, spokesman for the General Administration of Customs, said that since the beginning of this year, some international organizations have lowered the growth rate of the global economy and international trade. In this context, China has become a "stabilizer" for the operation of global trade. The steady growth of China's foreign trade in the first quarter will help boost confidence and stabilize global trade.
"Judging from the growth figures, my country's foreign trade situation in the first quarter was positive, and some favorable factors promoted my country's foreign trade in the first quarter to achieve a good result." Li Chunding, director and professor of the Institute of International Economics of China Agricultural University, said in an interview with a reporter from China Trade News that the restorative growth of my country's foreign trade also shows that the competitiveness of my country's foreign trade continues to increase, mainly due to the improvement of the competitiveness of my country's products and The gradual emergence of the successful effect of trade transformation enables enterprises to actively open up new markets through some new foreign trade formats in the face of global trade protectionism, for example, new formats such as e-commerce and cross-border e-commerce trade have all played a very good leading role. In addition, the driving effects of some policies to promote the development of foreign trade are also emerging, and Sino-US trade relations are also showing a trend of easing and improving.
"International organizations have gradually lowered their expectations for global economic growth, but my country's foreign trade development is'outstanding', which has also driven the growth of the global economy." Li Chunding talked.
According to Li Kuiwen's introduction, in the first quarter, my country's imports and exports to major trading partners such as the European Union, ASEAN and Japan increased, and the growth rate of imports and exports to countries along the "Belt and Road" was higher than the overall. In this regard, Li Chunding said, "From the data point of view, the increase in my country's foreign trade imports and exports mainly comes from trade with the European Union, countries along the'Belt and Road' and some emerging economies." On the one hand, due to the impact of the early Sino-US trade friction, a large number of orders were transferred to the European Union, emerging market countries and "Belt and Road" countries. On the other hand, with the continuous transformation of my country's foreign trade in recent years, related industries have gradually shifted to emerging market countries and countries along the "Belt and Road", and economic and trade cooperation between China and Europe has also been further strengthened.
In addition, in the first quarter of this year, my country's comprehensive bonded zone imports and exports were 526.23 billion billion yuan, an increase of 11.7 percent, of which exports were 311.18 billion billion yuan, an increase of 8.4 percent; imports were 215.05 billion billion yuan, an increase of 16.7 percent; the growth rates of imports and exports, exports, and imports were higher than foreign trade. The overall growth rate was 8, 1.7 and 16.4 percentage points. At the beginning of January this year, the executive meeting of the State Council deployed to benchmark the international advanced level to promote the upgrading of the comprehensive bonded area, committed to turning the comprehensive bonded area into a new platform for high-level opening up, introduced some facilitation reform measures, improved the business environment of the comprehensive bonded area, and further promoted trade and investment facilitation. In this regard, some people in the industry have commented that the achievements made in the import and export of the comprehensive bonded zone in the first quarter also show that China's measures to promote the development of trade and investment have achieved good results, and the comprehensive bonded zone has played a positive role in stabilizing foreign trade. The comprehensive bonded zone has great potential in promoting the development of China's foreign trade in the future.
"Sino-US trade frictions and trade tensions between the United States and the European Union have made global trade development face uncertainty, but the development of national economic and trade relations is only a superficial factor affecting global economic growth." Wang Jian, director of the International Business Research Center of the University of International Business and Economics, analyzed that the global trade market is currently undergoing a major transformation. Technology drives trade development. E-commerce and cross-border e-commerce are playing an increasingly important role in the development of global trade. With the help of these platforms, Small, medium and micro enterprises continue to become an important force in promoting the development of global trade. my country is also at the forefront of the development of cross-border e-commerce. From this perspective, my country's foreign trade growth still has potential in the future.
"The development of China's foreign trade may depend on major global environmental changes, especially the outcome of the negotiations between China and the United States is a very critical factor, but I think most of the factors may be positive." In Li Chunding's view, the current Sino-US trade negotiations are more likely to reach an agreement, and Sino-US trade relations are developing in a positive direction. In addition, the trade disputes between the United States and Europe continue to emerge, which will also tighten the trade relations between China and Europe and promote the negotiation of bilateral investment agreements between China and Europe. In the future, China will deepen economic and trade cooperation with other economies. With the construction of "Belt and Road Initiative" and the cooperation between China and African and Latin American countries, emerging markets will become the new direction of China's foreign trade development. "Therefore, on the whole, the positive factors of China's foreign trade growth are greater than the negative factors." Li Chunding said.
