Research and Application Status of Spinning and Melting Spunlace/Hot Air Eisai

Professor Jin Xiang-yu, Department of Nonwoven Materials and Engineering, College of Textile, Donghua University

Professor Jin Xiangyu showed his unique views on the research and development and application of spinning/melting nonwoven materials, two-component spunbond nonwoven materials, two-component spunbond spunlace nonwoven materials and hot air nonwoven materials. For example, spunbond spunlace superfine fiber nonwoven spunlace is not to achieve the entire cross-section of the fiber entanglement holding, but only on the surface of a certain depth of the fiber effect, this structure and the structure of the turf is very similar, thus proposing a new way to open fiber-"turf type" open fiber structure.

In terms of hot air nonwovens, as consumers put forward higher requirements for the softness and comfort of sanitary products, the surface layer, diversion layer, bottom layer and waist circumference of sanitary products produced by leading sanitary products enterprises at home and abroad have gradually turned to hot air nonwovens. In order to pursue refinement and improve the added value of products, the amount of hot air nonwovens in the surface material is also gradually increasing, of which the most widely used is embossed and perforated hot air materials. This is mainly due to its good flexibility.

It is used in the surface of sanitary products, which has been led by the Japanese and Korean markets in recent years. As far as the current Chinese market is concerned, about 90% famous sanitary products brands use hot air materials as the surface layer of sanitary products.

Technology and material application of side-by-side two-component non-woven fabrics

Professor Ning Xin, Dean of Institute of Materials Engineering and Textile, Qingdao University

Professor Ning Xin related the characteristics of bicomponent fibers to the physical parameters of Eisai, thus linking them to the subjective feelings of materials (such as bulkiness, touch, overall deformability, cotton feeling and silk feeling). Only by mastering the complex relationship and considering the balance of various properties of the material and the cost performance, can we make good use of the characteristics of synthetic fibers in the design of sanitary materials.

Then he introduced the two-component fiber technology and equipment. For example, the SWT two-component spunbond equipment that their team and Shandong Swite are cooperating to develop can obtain higher curl and more uniform laying.

In the long fiber two-component melt spinning technology, the current sheath-core type

PP/PE spunbond has failed in the field of medical and health care; Professor Ning Xin

It is believed that side-by-side PP/PE, PP/PP, PET/PP and PET/PE have the opportunity to succeed in this field. The softness and dryness of the material are the key advantages, and the three-dimensional structure can bring the dryness of the material. However, the speed of spunbond and hot air oven needs to be matched.

Professor Ning Xin pointed out that Asia is leading the development trend of world health care products. For example, the progress in softness of hygiene products in Asia and China leads the global market, and soft non-woven solutions are the most complete in Asia, including technological diversity and industrial supply scale.

Finally, he said that in the future, we should develop special-shaped cross-sections and split fibers through innovations in fiber configurations and equipment to promote the application of health, medical or industrial products and provide consumers with a new high-end experience.

melt-blown composite filter material

Ms. Ya Liu, Associate Professor, Department of Nonwoven Materials and Engineering, Tianjin Polytechnic University

In recent years, due to the large amount of pollution brought by industrial development, the haze weather remains high, and the processing environment of aerospace, electronics, precision machinery and other industrial sectors requires high cleanliness, so the demand for high-performance filter materials continues to grow.

The traditional meltblown nonwoven materials have poor compression resilience and do not withstand pressure during use, which will lead to increased filtration resistance and reduced dirt holding capacity. The development of meltblown composite filter materials can be considered to overcome these shortcomings.

For example, the two-component meltblown composite material can complement the advantages of the two raw materials to obtain fiber products with better resilience and bulkiness. At the same time, it can prepare special-shaped cross-section bicomponent fibers and open fibers by spunlace or other technologies. The bicomponent structure of superfine meltblown fibers provides the possibility of manufacturing finer fibers, making the meltblown cloth feel soft and high in strength, with high bulkiness and better filtration performance.

Ms. Liu Ya also introduced tourmaline/POSS modified polar meltblown technology, intercalation meltblown technology, meltblown/electrospinning composite technology, etc.

Opportunities and Challenges for the Global Nonwovens Industry-Overview of the Development of International Nonwovens Leading Enterprises

Ms. Karen McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief, American Journal of Nonwoven Industry

Ms. Karen McIntyre introduced the top ten manufacturers in the global nonwovens industry. Their business development and changes gave the audience a comprehensive understanding of the development of the entire industry. Ms. McIntyre also introduced some of the current major trends in the industry and their impact on the industry, such as sustainability, flushable wipes, and high-end diapers in China.

In terms of application market, diapers are still the world's largest nonwovens market. We have seen the trend in the diaper market in terms of green or sustainability. This year, P & G (Procter & Gamble), the world's largest diaper manufacturer, launched Pampers Pure Protection diapers to enter the natural diaper market.

Investment also remains a hot topic, and experts expect demand for nonwovens to continue to grow. In fact, new production lines representing various nonwoven technologies are emerging all over the world. Such a wide range of investments indicates that all nonwovens markets are growing. Most of the investment seen in recent years has been concentrated in Asia, and you can imagine how fast this market is growing. We saw new production lines from Berry, Fibertex, Avgol, Fitesa's acquisition of CNC, and Suomine's announcement that expanding its Asian business is the company's top priority. In addition, including Dalian Ruiguang, South six such Chinese local manufacturers are also expanding rapidly.

Another emerging market is for adult incontinence products. Many of the investments in nonwovens lines I 've talked about today are based on a bullish market for adult incontinence, which is expected to outpace baby diapers as the global population grows. Actually. Sales of adult incontinence products in Japan have surpassed those of baby diapers. This trend is expected to extend to other countries as birth rates decline and life expectancy increases.

Research and Development Progress of Biodegradable Synthetic Fiber

Mr. Chen Peng, Researcher, Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Mr. Chen Peng focused on polylactic acid fiber (PLA).

Polylactic acid is a biomass-derived, biodegradable, absorbable aliphatic polyester material.

Due to the low strength, poor heat resistance, high shrinkage and insufficient flexibility of PLA fiber, its application in products is seriously hindered. Mr. Chen Peng pointed out that at present, the research and development of high-quality PLA fibers and nonwovens with high strength, heat resistance, low shrinkage, flexibility and skin-friendly as the main characteristics is a recognized and urgent technical problem to be broken through, and it is also a necessary condition to ensure the sustainable development of the industry.

From a process point of view, Mr. Chen Peng introduced the LIB technology used to prepare high-strength PLA fibers. Embedding LIB units in the conventional melt spinning process is extremely effective in promoting the orientation and crystallization of PLA fibers and inducing the production of "rare" high order structures.

From the perspective of raw materials, Mr. Chen Peng proposed the idea of fiber "alloying", which combines PLA and PHBV. Through rheological and process research, the problems of low melt strength and poor spinnability of PLA and PHBV were solved, and the industrialization technology was formed by step amplification. Using originally hard and brittle materials (PLA, PHBV), it is unexpected to obtain modified fibers with significantly improved flexibility, handle and heat resistance, which is expected to break through the performance and application bottleneck of conventional bio-based degradable synthetic fibers. The strength of PLA/PHBV blend fiber is slightly lower, but it still meets the needs of textile applications. The initial modulus is reduced (soft hand feeling), the boiling water shrinkage is reduced (heat resistance is improved), and the resilience is improved.

He said that starting from the modification principle of PLA/PHBV fiber, a series of modification systems and methods based on microphase structure regulation can be extended for the preparation of a variety of differential (ultra-fine/hollow/shaped), functional (flame retardant/antibacterial/antistatic) fibers and nonwovens.

Current Situation and Development Trend of Chinese Sanitary Products Industry

Ms. Zhang Yulan, Secretary-General of Household Paper Committee of China Paper Association

The rigid demand characteristics of sanitary products make the industry maintain overall growth, but the growth rate slows down; while factors such as overcapacity and exchange rate changes cause the cost of raw materials to rise, which intensifies market competition and accelerates the reshuffle of the industry. small enterprises and backward production capacity will be eliminated; promote the industry to continue to upgrade and products to the high-end development.

Baby diaper market overcapacity, competition is still fierce, while imports continue to increase. However, China's market penetration rate has not yet reached the level of developed countries. And the fertility level in 2017 will be maintained after the two-child policy. The younger generation of parents are more dependent on diapers, the number of diapers used per day increases, and the age of diapers used increases (it is possible to transition to 0 to 3 years old); Product upgrading, the share of pants continues to increase; Channels are also more diversified.

In the adult incontinence products market, is still price-oriented, quality monitoring frequency is very few (compared to baby diapers), some enterprises shoddy, production of low-grade products/unqualified products, low-cost competition. As China's aging population intensifies, and the income level of the generation that is about to enter the aging is getting higher and higher, ideas are also updated, and the market has great potential. In the future, there will be more and more segmented products, such as mild, moderate and heavy products.

The penetration rate of the feminine hygiene products market is basically saturated, and the population of women of the right age (15-49 years old) shows a downward trend year by year. Therefore, the high-end products, differentiation, the increase in the frequency of use will be to promote the growth of the industry market size. Period pants will also further popularity and growth.

In the wet wipes market, consumers are more pursuing natural fiber raw materials (cotton fiber, bamboo fiber, etc.) to meet their own health needs. Functional subdivision products are gradually increasing, such as patient/elderly wipes, cleaning/disinfection wipes, etc. The development of washable wipes is also the focus of the future.
