This year's foreign trade situation is grim and complex
Recently, the foreign trade figures of neighboring countries and regions have dropped significantly. China's foreign trade figures released by the General Administration of Customs in the first two months also showed a downward trend. According to data released by the World Trade Organization in early March, the international trade barometer index fell 4 percentage points from the last published index, only 92.2 percent. The Information Office of the State Council held a press conference on April 4 to introduce the 133rd China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair). Wang Shouwen, international trade negotiator and vice minister of the Ministry of Commerce, said that the international trade index reflects that international demand is not smooth. The questionnaire survey of 15000 companies in the Canton Fair that has been recovered shows that the decline in orders and insufficient demand are the main difficulties encountered. This is consistent with expectations. This year's foreign trade situation is severe and complicated.
Wang Shouwen also pointed out that we should also see the competitiveness, resilience and advantages of China's foreign trade. First, China's economic recovery this year will provide a driving force for foreign trade. China's PMI manufacturing purchasing managers' index has been above the boom-bust line for the third consecutive month. my country's logistics index has been rising for 2 consecutive months, reaching 55.5 percent last month. The domestic economy is recovering and the demand for imported products has a traction. The recovery of the domestic economy has provided a driving force for exports.
Second, more than 40 years of open innovation have enabled foreign trade enterprises to form some new advantages and new momentum. For example, the green new energy industry is now showing relatively good competitiveness. We have created relatively good market access by signing free trade agreements with our neighbors. The growth rate of cross-border e-commerce is faster than that of offline trade, and the process of trade digitization is also constantly improving, which also provides new competitive advantages for foreign trade.
Third, the trade environment is becoming more and more optimized. This year, the transportation problem has been greatly alleviated, and the price of sea transportation has dropped greatly. Civil aviation is recovering, and passenger flights have belly cabins under them, which can bring a lot of transportation capacity. Merchants are also more convenient, which shows that our trade environment is being optimized. Recently, some research has also been conducted, and orders in some provinces are showing a gradual warming trend.
Wang Shouwen proposed that it is necessary to do a good job in policy guarantees, promote the grasping of orders, cultivate market players, and ensure compliance; it is necessary to actively promote the development of new foreign trade formats and stabilize processing trade; it is necessary to make good use of open platforms and trade rules, continuously optimize the business environment, and continue to expand Import, including the 133rd Canton Fair.
"We have now received the intention of buyers, indicating that hundreds of thousands of buyers from more than 220 countries and regions will participate in the offline exhibition or online exhibition of the Canton Fair, which creates opportunities for enterprises from these countries and regions to cooperate with Chinese enterprises to build a safe, reliable and efficient supply chain, it also provides a platform for these enterprises or the countries and regions where they are located to catch the express train of China's economic development and economic recovery." Wang Shouwen said.
