Bangladesh's textile and apparel exports up 46.1 percent year-on-year in first quarter

Bangladesh's textile and clothing import and export continued the high growth level since September 2021, and the growth rate of major products reached more than 20% in 2022. Since 2021, when Vietnam, India and other neighboring countries are still caught in the epidemic prevention and control policy choices, the Bangladeshi government has relaxed the quarantine policy and strengthened its financial support for the manufacturing industry to ensure the normal operation of the garment industry. According to data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, from January to March 2022, Bangladesh exported textile products and clothing to the world for about US $11.79 billion, a sharp increase of 46.1 percent over the same period last year, and the growth rate rebounded by 46.3 percentage points from the same period last year. Among them, the export value of textile products was about 0.46 billion billion US dollars, an increase of 46.2 percent over the same period last year, and the growth rate rebounded by 22.1 percentage points over the same period last year; the export value of clothing was about 11.32 billion billion US dollars, a sharp increase of 46.1 percent over the same period last year, and the growth rate rebounded by 47.1 percentage points over the same period last year. Driven by the rapid recovery of the clothing industry, Bangladesh's import demand for yarn, fabric and other supporting products showed a steady increase. From January to March, the amount of raw cotton and various textile fabrics imported from the world was about 1.31 billion billion US dollars, an increase of 26.2 year-on-year.%, the growth rate rebounded by 19.5 percentage points from the same period last year. Among them, the import value of raw cotton and textile fabrics increased by 26.2 and 27.3 respectively, and the growth rate rebounded by 18.9 and 78.6 percentage points respectively compared with the same period last year.
