In terms of areas, from January to April, the operating income of non-woven enterprises above designated size increased by 10.5 percent year-on-year, the total profit decreased by 49.4 percent year-on-year, and the profit margin was 6.4 percent, down 7.6 percentage points year-on-year; the operating income and total profit of enterprises above the scale of rope, rope and cable increased by 29.8 percent and 70.8 percent respectively, and the profit margin was 4.8 percent, an increase of 1.2 percentage points year-on-on-on-on-year; the operating income and total profit of enterprises above the scale of textile belt and cord cloth increased by 28.5 and 262.8 respectively, and the profit margin was 5.9, an increase of 3.8 percentage points; the operating income and total profit of enterprises above the scale of awning and canvas increased by 40.3 and 80.5 respectively, and the profit margin was 6.0, an increase of 1.3 percentage points; the operating income of enterprises above the scale of other industrial textiles where medical and health, filtration and geotechnical textiles are located increased by 4.0 compared with the same period last year, the total profit decreased by 30.8 compared with the same period last year, and the profit margin was 6.0, down 3.0 percentage points from the same period last year.
In terms of international trade, from the perspective of major export products, the value of non-woven fabrics, special yarns, threads, ropes, cables and their products (products in Chapter 56 of the General Classification of Customs Commodities) from January to April was 2.79 billion US dollars, an increase of 54.8 per cent over the same period last year, of which the export of non-woven fabrics was 1.66 billion US dollars, an increase of 68.1 per cent over the same period last year, and the export volume of 507000 tons, an increase of 51.9 per cent; exports of industrial textiles (products of Chapter 59 of the General Classification of Customs Commodities) amounted to US $2.73 billion, up 31.3 per cent year on year. In terms of exports of epidemic prevention materials, chemical fiber nonwoven protective clothing (including medical protective clothing) was exported at US $1.24 billion, up 37.4 percent year-on-year, while unlisted textile products (including masks) were exported at US $5.09 billion, down 49.6 percent year-on-year.
From January to April 2021, the recovery trend in the field of non-epidemic prevention materials in the industrial textile industry is obvious, and this trend is expected to continue throughout the year. As the prices of non-woven fabrics and epidemic prevention materials returned to the pre-epidemic level, the profits in these fields from January to April dropped significantly compared with last year's high point, but based on January to April 2019, the average growth rate of the total profits of non-woven enterprises in the two years still reached 39.4; the production, sales and export of non-woven fabrics still maintained a high growth rate, the market demand for non-woven fabrics and their products is not reduced. It is expected that in the rest of this year, the total profit of the nonwovens and epidemic prevention materials industry will continue to maintain negative growth compared to the same period last year, but the profit margin will be better than the pre-epidemic level.
