The theme interview of "the people and things that I feel most deeply in my walk with my motherland" is one of the series of activities. Du Yuzhou, born in February 1942, studied architecture at Tsinghua University from 1960 to 1966, and was a professor-level senior engineer. He has successively served as technician, deputy director and deputy section chief of Hunan Changde textile machinery factory, engineer, deputy director of design office, first vice president and President of design institute of Ministry of textile industry, vice minister of Ministry of textile industry, director of State Textile Industry Bureau, and President of China Textile Industry Association. He is an important promoter and practitioner of the construction of textile power. Now 77 years old, he is still actively contributing to the development of the textile industry.

Growing up under the red flag and growing up in the industry, Du Yuzhou, as an old textile man, has witnessed the 70-year historical changes of the textile industry in New China. In the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, the economy was backward, a hundred wastes were waiting to be developed, the textile industry was small in scale and backward in technology, and the cloth woven could not meet the needs of the people. He told us that the deepest impression on him at that time was that the average person in the country was more than 3 feet of coarse cloth, which was not enough to make a set of adult clothes, and the children's clothes at home were worn in turn. "the new three years, the old three years, sewing and mending for another three years," and the aesthetics of clothing was even more out of the question.
Du Yuzhou said that from the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China to before the reform and opening up, the textile industry, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, worked hard, independent, and self-reliant. By the end of the 1970 s, a complete textile industry system was basically established, which was sustained for the textile industry after the reform and opening up. High-speed development has laid a solid foundation.
The Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China opened the prelude to reform and opening up, and the textile industry ushered in a historical opportunity for rapid development. Du Yuzhou is very proud to say that in the past 40 years, our party has united and led the people of all ethnic groups across the country to achieve world-renowned achievements. my country's social productivity, comprehensive national strength and people's living standards have achieved unprecedented development, and the textile industry has also undergone earth-shaking changes., Since the end of 1983, the cloth ticket was canceled, the shortage of ticket supply has been out, and the dream of "clothing is the world, by the end of the last century, it has become the world's largest textile producer, consumer and exporter. Now, fiber production accounts for 55% of the world's total, and export earnings account for 37%. Not only is the total industrial scale large, but also the structure is good, automation, digitization, etc. High-tech development speed is very fast, and my country has become a veritable textile power.

He is an active promoter of the construction of textile power
Du Yuzhou has worked in the textile industry for a long time, especially after the institutional reform of the State Council, he has shouldered the important task of leading the development of the textile industry and spared no effort to promote the construction of a textile power. He told us that since the beginning of the new century, especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China's textile industry has been developing on "taking a new road to industrialization", "building a modern industrial system", "innovation, coordination, green, openness, and sharing". Under the guidance of a series of principles such as the concept, it has always taken the construction of a textile power as the main line, and through the practice and exploration of the whole industry, the goal of building a strong country in textile science and technology, a strong country in textile brands, a strong country in textile sustainable development and a strong country in textile talents has been established. The textile industry closely follows the national "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" on "Building a Modern Industrial System" and the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" on the need to firmly establish the development concept of "innovation, coordination, green, openness, and sharing", and earnestly implement the "China Manufacturing 2025", promote supply-side structural reforms, transform new development momentum, create new advantages in international competition, and comprehensively promote the construction of a textile power.

When he worked in the former Ministry of Textile Industry, he focused on clothing art, clothing culture and other aspects, accumulated rich professional knowledge, cultural heritage and work experience, and often created after work. In his eyes, architecture, clothing, and art are integrated. Textile factories, characteristic buildings, labor scenes, etc., have all become the source of his creation. In these works, his artistic pursuit and textile feelings are highly unified and complement each other. He said that clothing and architecture are the products of human civilization, and the beauty of architecture and clothing is integrated. Clothing culture should not only inherit traditional culture, but also reflect the sense of modernity.
