In August 2019, the value added of industries above designated size increased by 4.4 in real terms year-on-year (the following value-added growth rates are all real growth rates net of price factors), down 0.4 percentage points from July. From a month-on-month perspective, in August, the added value of industries above designated size increased by 0.32 over the previous month. From January to August, the added value of industries above designated size increased by 5.6 year-on-year.

From a month-on-month perspective, in August, the added value of industries above designated size increased by 0.32 over the previous month. From January to August, the added value of industries above designated size increased by 5.6 year-on-year.
In three major categories, in August, the added value of the mining industry increased by 3.7 percent year-on-year, down 2.9 percentage points from July; the manufacturing industry increased by 4.3 percent, down 0.2 percentage points; and the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas and water increased by 5.9 percent, down 1.0 percentage points.
In terms of economic types, in August, the added value of state-controlled enterprises increased by 4.1 percent year-on-year; joint-stock enterprises increased by 5.3 percent, foreign and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan-invested enterprises increased by 1.3 percent; and private enterprises increased by 6.0 percent.
In terms of industries, in August, 32 of the 41 major industries maintained year-on-year growth in added value. The added value of the agricultural and sideline food processing industry remained the same as the same month last year, the textile industry increased by 0.1, the chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry increased by 1.2, the non-metallic mineral products industry increased by 8.1, the ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry increased by 10.4, the non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry increased by 8.5, the general equipment manufacturing industry remained the same as the same month last year, the special equipment manufacturing industry increased by 3.3, the automobile manufacturing industry increased by 4.3, the railway, shipbuilding, aerospace and other transportation equipment manufacturing industry increased by 7.8 per cent, the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry increased by 10.0 per cent, the computer, communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry increased by 4.7 per cent, and the power and heat production and supply industry increased by 5.1 per cent.
In terms of regions, in August, the added value of the eastern region increased by 2.8 percent year-on-year, the central region increased by 6.5 percent, the western region increased by 5.3 percent, and the northeast region increased by 3.0 percent.
By product, in August, 302 of the 605 products increased year on year. 106.39 million tons of steel, up 9.8 percent year-on-year; 210.18 million tons of cement, up 5.1 percent; 4.91 million tons of ten non-ferrous metals, up 4.4 percent; 1.65 million tons of ethylene, up 1.8 percent; 2 million cars, down 0.6 percent, of which 809000 cars, down 7.3 percent; 100000 new energy vehicles, up 9.9 percent; power generation 668.2 billion kWh, up 1.7 percent; crude oil processing capacity 54 million tons, growth of 6.9 percent.
In August, the sales rate of industrial enterprises was 98.3 percent, down 0.3 percentage points from a year earlier. Industrial enterprises realized export delivery value of 1046.4 billion yuan, down 4.3 percent in nominal terms from the same period last year.
