Interpretation of Korean KF Series Mask Standard

Release time:

2019-06-18

What exactly is the Korean mask standard KF stipulated? Is it the same as FFP? Is there any difference?

Different countries and regions in the world have different requirements for different products, and masks are no exception. The standards of each country and region will divide the data of various indicators for different masks. Europe has FFP1/2/3, North America has N90/95/99,BFE/PFE/VFE, etc., China has GB2626, GB32610, etc. The above standards are relatively familiar to everyone. We also briefly introduced these standards in the previous push. TodayThis article introduces the Korean mask standard KF series.

KF is the abbreviation of Korean Filter. KF series standard is the mainstream mask standard in South Korea issued by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety(MFDS) of South Korea's food and drug administration department. KF series is divided into KF80,KF94,KF99. Information obtained from the MFDS official website shows that:

  filtration efficiency Leakage rate Resistance
KF80 ≥80% ≤ 25% 60pa
KF94 ≥ 94% ≤ 11% 70pa
KF99 ≥99% ≤5% 100pa

I believe I am familiar with the European standard.FFPA glance at the series shows that this andFFP/1/2/3Seems similar, but a little different.

Indeed,KFseries in terms of filtration efficiency requirements andFFPSame, but the resistance requirement seems to be a lot worse. Is the Korean standard more demanding than the European standard? We then look down.

MFDSThe detection methods of various data indicated by the official website at the same time are shown in the following figure:

Figure 2 is a screenshot of the beginning of the entire document.

As can be seen from the screenshot in fig. 3, the test methods of KF80 are different from those of KF94 and KF99.

KF80Only need to use salt medium test, more than 80%, and KF94 and KF99 need both oily and salt medium test, respectively, more than 94% and 99%.

Figure 4 is about the KF series filtration efficiency measurement.Test method, 6 pieces of samples, placed at a certain temperature and humidity for 24 hours, 95L/min flow test, respectively, to test 6 sets of data.

Fig. 5 is about the test method of KF series respiratory resistance. this screenshot can answer the doubts raised above. The KF respiratory resistance test uses a different flow rate from the filtration efficiency test. The respiratory resistance test uses a flow rate of 30L/min, while the FFP resistance test also uses a flow rate of 95L. This is why the KF standard's resistance requirement is so much lower.

The above is the main technical index requirements of the Korean mask standard KF series.

I believe everyone has a further understanding of the Korean KF standard after reading it. Indeed, KF series and FFP series do have the same or similar places, but there are still some differences in some details.

Dexing Company has invested heavily in introducing Japan's Carson's meltblown non-woven fabric production line and the latest and most authoritative international testing equipment, the TSI-8130A filter material detector, which can carry out various tests according to KF series standards to ensure that all indexes meet relevant requirements.Welcome customers to come to consult!
