Trade of countries along "the belt and road initiative" has soared! Before May, China's textile exports rose sharply and clothing fell.

Recently, the General Administration of Customs released data showing that in the first five months of this year, my country's total import and export value was 1.79 trillion billion U.S. dollars, a decrease of 1.6 percent. Of this total, exports were $958.34 billion, up 0.4 per cent; imports were $827.87 billion, down 3.7 per cent; and the trade surplus was $130.47 billion, up 38.3 per cent.

In the first five months of this year, China's exports of textile yarns, fabrics and products totaled 48.31 billion US dollars, up 1.5 percent from the same period last year, and exports of clothing and clothing accessories totaled 51.28 billion US dollars, down 5.5 percent from the same period last year.
In May, the total value of our imports and exports was $386.03 billion billion, down 3.4 per cent.Of this total, exports were $213.84 billion, up 1.1 per cent; imports were $172.19 billion, down 8.5 per cent; and the trade surplus was $41.65 billion, up 77.9 per cent. In May, China exported textile yarns, fabrics and products to US $11.64 billion; exports of clothing and clothing accessories to US $12.19 billion.
Before May, China's foreign trade import and export mainly showed the following characteristics:
First, general trade grew rapidly and increased its share.In the first five months, my country's general trade imports and exports totaled 7.25 trillion billion yuan, an increase of 6.1 percent, accounting for 59.9 percent of China's total foreign trade value, an increase of 1.1 percentage points over the same period last year. In the same period, the import and export of processing trade was 3.02 trillion yuan, down 2.4 percent, accounting for 24.9 percent, or 1.7 percentage points.
Second, the growth of imports and exports to major markets such as the European Union, ASEAN and Japan, and the growth rate of imports and exports to countries along the "Belt and Road" is higher than that of the whole.In the first five months, the EU was China's largest trading partner, with a total trade value of 1.9 trillion billion yuan, an increase of 11.7 percent, accounting for 15.7 percent of China's total foreign trade value. ASEAN is China's second largest trading partner, with a total trade value of 1.63 trillion billion yuan, an increase of 9.4 percent, accounting for 13.5 percent of China's total foreign trade value. The United States is my country's third largest trading partner. The total value of Sino-US trade was 1.42 trillion billion yuan, a decrease of 9.6 percent, accounting for 11.7 percent of my country's total foreign trade value. Japan is my country's fourth largest trading partner. The total value of Sino-Japanese trade was 846.9 billion billion yuan, an increase of 0.9 percent, accounting for 7% of my country's total foreign trade value. In the same period, my country's total imports and exports to countries along the "Belt and Road" totaled 3.49 trillion billion yuan, an increase of 9%, 4.9 percentage points higher than the overall national growth rate, accounting for 28.8 of my country's total foreign trade value, and the proportion increased by 1.3 percentage points.
Third, the import and export of private enterprises increased rapidly, and their proportion increased.In the first five months, the import and export of private enterprises totaled 5.02 trillion billion yuan, an increase of 11.1 percent, accounting for 41.4 percent of China's total foreign trade value, an increase of 2.6 percentage points over the same period last year.
Fourth, exports of mechanical and electrical products and labor-intensive products have maintained growth.In the first five months, clothing exports were 348.06 billion yuan, down 0.2 percent; textiles were 327.68 billion yuan, up 7.3 percent; furniture was 148.33 billion yuan, up 9.6 percent; footwear was 121.87 billion yuan, up 5.8 percent; plastic products were 124.13 billion yuan, up 18.6 percent; luggage and bags were 70.91 billion yuan, up 7.7 percent; toys were 64.8 billion yuan, up 30.1 percent; and the total export of the above seven categories of labor-intensive products was 1.21 trillion yuan, up 7.2 percent, 18.6 per cent of total exports.
