Introduction to the Author

Wu Di, graduated from the Department of Automation of Tsinghua University, is a professor-level senior engineer, system analyst, former deputy director of the Industry Department of China Textile Industry Federation, and vice chairman of the Integrated Application Branch of China Computer Users Association. I have been working in the textile industry for nearly 40 years, and I have forged an indissoluble bond with textile informatization. I have personally experienced informatization from faltering to vigorous development, from enterprise pilot to comprehensive promotion, from technical enlightenment to independent innovation, and from local application. The whole process of comprehensive integration. During this period, he undertook dozens of research topics, implemented information systems for more than a dozen enterprises, drafted various relevant plans, standards and specifications, and feasibility reports, and accumulated hundreds of case materials. Although I have been writing some articles about textile informatization in recent years, and once had the idea of making a systematic summary and writing a monograph on textile informatization, I have not made up my mind to sort it out because I am busy with my work and have too much information.

In the first two years, I began to be responsible for the compilation of "Chinese Industrial History-Textile Volume", which inspired the idea of "taking history as a mirror"; in the process of collecting and sorting out all aspects of historical materials, I naturally realized the historical value of the materials I had on hand and could not bury them. In the filing cabinet, the idea of sorting out the development history of textile informatization came into being. In the second half of 2017, people from all walks of life began to solemnly commemorate the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up and publicize the great achievements made by various industries in the past 40 years. The computer application of my country's textile industry originated in the early 1970 s. In 1978, taking advantage of the reform and opening up of the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the construction of textile informatization began to start with the automatic monitoring system of looms. The development of the industry is moving forward simultaneously, and its results are an important part of the development achievements of the textile industry. Therefore, under the current situation, it is a very meaningful work to make a comprehensive, systematic and scientific summary of the development process of textile informatization in the past 40 years, and it is also an obligatory responsibility.
