I. European Standard (FFP)

The European standard for protective masks is divided into three levels according to the CEEN1409:2001: FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3.Its detection flow rate is 95L/min, DOP is used to simulate oily particles, NaCl particles are used to simulate non-oily particles, and the European standard FFP series standard requires filtration efficiency for both. as follows,

2. American Standard (N, R, P)

The United States National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) on the classification of masks can be said to be similar,

It is divided into the following three types:

  1. N:Not resistant to oil, can protect non-oily suspended particles.

  2. R:Resistant to oil can protect non-oily and oily suspended particles, but when used for oily particles, the use time shall not exceed 8 hours.

  3. P:oil Proof can protect non-oily and oily suspended particles. Compared with R series, P series is used for a relatively long time, according to the labels of different manufacturers.

According to the minimum filtration efficiency of the filter material, it is divided into the following three grades:

  1. Class 95: Minimum filtration efficiency is 95%.

  2. Class 99: Minimum filtration efficiency is 99%.

  3. 100 grade: minimum filtration efficiency of 99.97%.

For example, the N95 mask refers to a mask that can protect non-oily particles with an efficiency of more than 95%.

What are the oily particles?

"Oil" is a general term for liquid hydrocarbons. Automobile exhaust contains: nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and suspended particulate matter (ie "PM"). Typical oily particulate matter includes: oil smoke, oil mist, asphalt smoke, coke oven smoke, particulate matter in diesel engine exhaust, etc. Among them, the diesel engine exhaust, kitchen fume and a small part of the gasoline engine exhaust caused by oily particulate pollution in the air pollution is very small, but living in the dense production of the above-mentioned pollution environment, you can choose oily or both oily and non-oily protection standards.
The main difference between NIOSH's standard test conditions and European standard test conditions is that 85L/m is used to detect the flow rate, which is slightly different from the resistance requirements. Similarly, NaCl and DOP are used as aerosol representatives.

Third, the national standard (KN,KP)

China's national standard GB2626-2006 provisions of the standard with the United States standard N, P similar.

Basically, it can be understood that KN is approximately equal to N and KP is approximately equal to P, mainly because the resistance requirements are slightly different.

For example, KN95 protects non-oily particles by more than 95%, and the resistance is less than 100pa/cm.

 


Compared with BFE, the above standard detection flow is relatively large, which naturally brings much larger resistance data than BFE, so these standard masks are not necessarily suitable for everyone, because it will bring difficulties to breathing, and the wearing time should also be paid attention.
